The 10 VTNE domains explained
The Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) is built from a published content outline: ten domains of veterinary technician work, each with a fixed number of the 150 scored questions. Knowing the weights tells you where your study time pays off.

Animal Care and Nursing alone is 20% of the scored exam, and four domains (Animal Care and Nursing, Pharmacy and Pharmacology, Anesthesia, Surgical Nursing) make up 60% of it. The smaller domains still decide close results, so a plan that covers all ten is safer than one that skips any. For the number of questions, timing and scoring, see the VTNE exam format.
